Darrin E. Golden was sworn in as the principal officer of IBEW Local Union 364 on July 26, 2007.  Prior to assuming the duties and responsibilities as Business Manager and Financial Secretary he served the local working full time as a Business Agent and Organizer for five years. Prior to his appointment as Business Agent and Organizer, Darrin has served the local as Vice President for three years and served on the Executive Board for three years as well.

In 1991, after serving honorably in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aircrewman, Darrin returned home to the Rockford area and was accepted into the Inside Electrical Apprenticeship program.  As a strong proponent of education and lifelong learning he continued his college studies at Rock Valley College throughout his apprenticeship. Graduating from the electrical apprenticeship in 1996, he immediately began teaching Basic Electricity and Electronics to apprentice electricians.  In 1999, his concern for the financial well being of his local union and the fiscal security of its members led to his appointment as a Trustee to the local union Pension and Health and Welfare trust funds.  In 2001, Darrin was elected as an Executive Board Member of the local and also served as a delegate to the 36th International Convention of the IBEW.  In 2004 he was reelected as an officer of the local this time serving as Vice President of the local union.

While serving as an officer at Local Union 364, Darrin has been active on various committees, he has led many initiatives to modernize and upgrade nearly all of the systems and facilities used by Local 364 and its members.  Most recently, along with the other elected officers of the union, Darrin completed a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion of the local union offices.  This project included the addition of a 6,000 square foot banquet hall which will continue generate revenue for the local union for many years to come.

In addition to being an outstanding leader for the IBEW, Darrin is also recognized as a bright young leader in his community.  On top to his many duties and responsibilities as Business Manger and Financial Secretary for the IBEW, he also serves as the Secretary Treasurer of the Northwestern Illinois Building Trades, the Secretary Treasurer of the IBEW State Conference of Illinois and as a panelist for the Council on Industrial Relations in Washington D.C.  He currently serves on the boards of the United Way Board and the Rockford Area Economic Development Council he is also a member of the Village of Machesney Park Planning and Zoning Commission and the Winnebago County Sherriff’s Public Safety Commission.  Previously he has served as an elected official for Harlem Township as a Trustee and Highway Commissioner.

Darrin graduated from Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois.   In addition to his designation as Journeyman Inside Wireman, he currently holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, a Bachelors Degree in Labor History and a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of Baltimore.  He has also completed course work at the University of Tennessee, The University of Wisconsin, The University of Illinois and is a graduate of the Harvard Program on Negotiations

Despite his demanding work schedule, Darrin is dedicated to his family.  He resides in Machesney Park with his wife of 17 years and their three children.  When not working or spending time with his family, Darrin can be found enjoying some of his favorite hobbies which include hunting, fishing, boating and coaching youth basketball.
